Bellus3D for iPhone X:
Last Thursday I was scrolling through Apple News as I typically do, and I came across this article about a new App called Bellus3D. This caught my attention not only because who wouldn’t want a 3D mesh of their face, but also because it was a free app to those who Beta test it, and all it needed to run was an iPhone X. No fancy camera or special hardware required. So, I went onto their site and decided to apply to be a tester. I may have fudged a little and said I was a design student and wanted to use this tech for a project… but nonetheless, I got an email a few days later saying I was in!
I downloaded the iOS TestFlight app, entered in my special code, and downloaded build 0.1.0.22. Surprisingly, the app is very intuitive and easy to use for being so new, and the entire process only took about 10 seconds with no problems. The app isn’t perfect yet, but I also wasnt expecting that. For only being 2 weeks old, what it produces is absolutly amazing! Although, this is mostly due to the fact that the iPhone X has such an amazing array of sensors on that notch. I’m sure those 30,000 dot points and IR meshed with optical info really helps for some easy inner workings. The company behind it says they are working on not only making the rendered model better, but also allowing users to export the model into other programs and perhaps intergrate it into video games. Imagine playing Fallout 4 or PUBG as Ian Sager! All I can say is I can’t wait to see what this app brings next, and I’ll keep you all updated!
